This is an aerial image of the great Australian outback. The lines and curves remind me of Aboriginal art, even when artists have never flown over their land. This is just one idea that appears in Bute Creek, Aboriginal people know their land!

If you are fascinated by Australia you'll love the people and places of Bute Creek. Home to four generations of family, the story is set on a fictional sheep station in the Flinders Ranges located in the remote north of South Australia. This book is a family saga full of ordinary people leading interesting lives that join together in surprising ways.

The story covers a wide range of geography and iconic Australian sights like a road trip along the Great Ocean Road, a visit to Wilpena Pound, the seaside town of Victor Harbor and quintessentially Australian places and landmarks including Quorn, Uluru, Adelaide and Canberra.

The true history of Australia and Aboriginal people is woven throughout the story to pique the reader's interest to discover more about the arrival of white people in Australia and the ongoing effects of colonisation.

The main character Rebecca, has challenges to overcome and big dreams that see her going on an unexpected adventure across the world, star in a television series, realise her affinity with animals (with a very special canine) and see her struggle in love.

This book is written in a different style to others you may have read because it includes the perspectives of different protagonists and their lives, loves and losses, with moving and engaging recollections of their journeys. But what is the ultimate fate of Bute Creek, will it survive?
